The sublime experience of having a partner in learning is at the very core of a private lesson of Functional Integration®.
Moshe Feldenkrais once said, "We do not work with peoples problems. We work with their health." He defined health as the capacity to recover from shock, the ability to overcome obstacles. He further defined health as the capacity to live one's own dreams.
When a person comes to me for a private Feldenkrais lesson of Functional Integration, they often come with a litany of past experiences that have lead them to the problems they presently face. Often their problems have culminated in living in painful conditions. Usually when people come to me in my practice, they seek relief from pain. It is seldom that someone comes out of curiosity seeking self-improvement. Most of my students are used to being in the medical model of health where an expert practitioner evaluates them and produces a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Often fine results are achieved in this model and it certainly has its value.
